The Artistic Vagabond Tour Wake-Up Art Click on flyer for more info! What is "The Artistic Vagabond Tour? Diary of an Artistic Vagabond 10/13/10 L ast time I spoke to you I was a little upset about the turn-out at my Artistic Vagabond stop at the Jones Creek Library. Looking back there were many factors that prevented people from coming, dispite the promotion of it. However, the Eden Park reception, entitled The People's Art was a breath of fresh air. Although on the day of the reception we ran into scheduling conflicts of the Meeting Rooms that almost prevented the event from happening, we had a great turn out. This time I was joined by my comrades Marcel P. Black, Donney Brasco, and Rasta Elder Eddie Dread. Marcel is a talented MC in all aspects: lyricsim, Hip Hop historian, social commentary, and passion and love for the artform. Donney Brasco is like a big brother to both Marcel and I. He is not only known as a talented poet throughout the local and abroad poetic circles, he is also a great event planner and promoter. My comrade Eddie Dread is a Rasta Elder in the Baton Rouge community and cares a lot about the literacy problem affecting our children. He showed his support by not only providing the background drumming, but also gave some wise words of encouragement to the People. What also made this event very beautiful was the clothing drive. Many who came out donated clothing, in which was donated to the Community Association for the Welfare of School Children (CAWSC). Unlike the Salvation Army and Goodwill, CAWSC donates the clothing back into the community, charging the People NOTHING! I hope to have a continued social relationship with them in the future. So what's next? Wake-Up Art. Wake-Up Art is my final reception of The Artistic Vagabond Tour which is now currently at The Scotlandville Library Branch. This will happen on October 31, 2010 and will commemorate the 1972 Smith-Brown Incident which happened on the grounds of Southern University of Baton Rouge during a student protest against the administration. Wake-Up Art will also pay homage to past and present progressive movements where the People united together against oppression and injustice. I can't give away too much, but please PLEASE support this particular reception on October 31, 2010. It will we worth it. One Love and Solidarity GHOST |
